Getting ready for the next half year

It's midyear. Time to revise the things done, not done, to be done, not to be done, planned & to be planned for the next half.

I have taken time out to breathe before I jump into busy holiday season sales for my online shops. I just finished rearranging my workspace,

stocked up supplies and now getting prepared to build the inventory for Folk Stroke for fall and winter abroad and monsoon in my country! Also to build up the stock of my BESTSELLER ITEMS.

Lots of stuff is still marked 'to be done' in my to do list. This happens with you too, right?

One thing I do all the time is to keep my notebook handy. Ideas come anytime and I can make note of them, sketch a new applique pattern or warli paintings. I can now start working on the ideas.

I am now completing a project of warli painting on saree for my friend's mother. I was wanting to complete this project for a while but could not do because of my Etsy shop's busy sales.

OMG! I don't believe that it's been a month I posted last on my blog!

June kept me busy. I was working for almost 15-18 hours a day to complete the 111 custom handmade applique orders for my Etsy shop.

This was a custom order for a boutique from Australia.

This brooch made my heart full of emotions and love while I was making it! That is what it is for, isn't it?

I am simultaneously working on three custom orders. Bought some supplies today, done packaging & shipping rhinestone chains from my supplies shop and now waiting for my husband's helping hand to organize my working space this weekend and a little shopping.

It's a century!

All I can say is ....hurray!!

I was not happy with the response I was getting for a long time when I opened my first Etsy shop on 21st May 2011. Still I kept working, trying, updating, experimenting, learning and what not. As most Etsyians do, I kept reading (and still do) the Etsy Success and Featured Seller articles to know more about them, their success, their tips and suggestions. Slowly and steadily my selling increased, I got repeat buyers, great feedbacks (100%.positive!... yay!!!)  And it's today! Folk Stroke celebrates 100 sales!

I had a goal of reaching 100 sales within one year of shop opening. To my satisfaction, I could reach the goal before time! I’m very thankful to all my buyers who appreciated my work enough to purchase. Their feedbacks are encouragements for me! THANK YOU EVERYONE! Sequin Eye Applique! My new unique custom request!

As I have always said, I love custom orders! I love to create new and unique appliques! I love to experiment and offer one of a kind appliques to my buyers!
Many handmade appliques from my shop are born out of custom inquiries! I am lucky to have creative buyers who visualize and suggest some changes according to their need and that gives birth to a new custom applique!

Here is a very unique sequin applique I am making for a lovely lady. An eye applique!!! I am so very excited! Well, there is a secret behind the excitement which only few people know.....Aboli making a sequin  EYE applique! hmmmm.... may be this is not the time to reveal the secret.......!!!!! Let's keep it for some other time.

This was the sample I made. The finishing is not accurate though. Now I am working on the proper custom order! Really happy!

Since last many days I was planning to open a supplies shop as I have many stuff waiting to be used. I have an addiction for beads and sequins and can not stop myself from buying an eye catching craft supply which is not in my buying list. I just go on collecting beautiful treasures and look at them to find an inspiration for my new applique. This has resulted in overflowing of my studio space so I decided to open a small branch of Folk Stroke to share my supply boxes with the craft world [ and handover to my husband the 80% of his space I use to keep my goodies. ;-) ]

Inspiration

An artist can get inspiration from anywhere and everywhere. Sometimes it is 2 am late night or even under shower (yes it happens with me quite often!)

Nowadays, I am into a mood of creating appliques. I think the Spring colors are inspiring me! This is the birth story of my recently listed Multicolor Rhinestone Applique Medallion Spring Flower in my Etsy shop.

One fine morning last week I was reading our local newspaper and enjoying a cup of tea with my husband. I saw an advertisement from a local jewelry shop with image of a beautiful stud earring.

The stone colors were so beautiful and the design was very attractive. I suddenly rushed to get my rhinestone box. My husband was first surprised but then he knew that as usual I had the 'creative attack'.

I opened the box and arranged few clear and colored rhinestones and how amazing it was looking!

I started working on it.

Central clear rhinestone surrouded by small sizes similar crystals.

Antique gold sequin work started.

Good Monday!

For last 15 days I was not well, suffered from bronchitis and breathlessness. Still the weakness is holding me back from working in my home studio. I still have not resumed my full activities and many things are still pending. I managed to ship my pending orders and also received few custom orders from my Etsy shop. I should thank my valued buyers as they allowed me to recover and then ship their packages. I missed my dear dear friend from Springfield. She never stopped mailing me, cared and prayed for me.

The most important person in my life was there for me throughout! My darling husband! I also missed and still am missing my daughter.....

It's now time to move on. I lost important 15 days. I had planned for Spring sale in my Etsy shop which I started today. I have taken break from Ebay at present. Just listed 2 items.

I will now concentrate on my Etsy shop.
