Biography

  • Hi!
I am Aboli, running 'Folk Stroke' as one person business. I am a homemaker staying with my loving & extremely supportive husband in Pune city, the cultural capital of Maharashtra in India ( 'Maha' means Great and 'Rashtra' means Nation) where day to day life is full of arts and traditions.

I am a self taught artist. Hunger for creativity has opened doors of different media for me and thus Folk Stroke is not just restricted to folk art paintings alone or only appliques. I enjoy different hobbies which you will observe; reflect in vast varieties of my creations.

My inspiration is the rich culture I am surrounded with; where the day begins with a colorful 'Rangoli' motif and ends with the melody of folk songs. I feel honored to share my rich heritage with you under the banner of 'FOLK STROKE' TM.

I love to touch various media like henna, natural colors, candles, canvas. There is so much more to do; I am never 'switched off'. I just switch my media & always remain 'on' creating something. That keeps me alive!!

You will find me in my 'half bedroom-half studio' always surrounded by seed beads, rhinestones & sequins. I cann't explain the joy when a beautiful applique is born in my hands! I love creating appliques and enjoy doing custom orders also. I happily offer discounts on bulk/ combined purchase.

I prefer ecofriendly handmade papers for paintings. Following original techniques when creating folk art paintings and use of natural colors like rice flour paste, red ochre soil, turmeric, indigo etc makes my artwork  unique; different from today's readymade market. My Warli paintings (Folk Art) are sold to collectors all over the world.

All items are made in my smoke free home under strict supervision of my 8 years old daughter---Proud to be a pet parent! Well, but at present she is enjoying her summer vacations with my parents at our native place.
  • I take pride in reaching every corner of the world by the name 'Folk Stroke'. With each artwork of mine, I am giving a piece of my soul. I need your appreciation. Be a part of my life!
  • Thank you for your valuable time to know 'about me'.
